Paruppu Payasam :
Paruppu Payasam This one's for all you south Indians, this sweet is made in south India during onam and vishu (New Year).
INGREDIENTS

Milk 3 cups.
Moong dal ¼ th cup.
Sugar ¼ th cup.
Green cardamom powder ½ teaspoon.
Coconut Grated 1 ¼ th cup + sliced - 1/4th cup.

To garnish :

Cashewnuts 8 - 10 nos.
Oil to deep fry.

METHOD

  1. Pick wash the lentil (moong dal) in a water and pat dry. Roast over a tava until golden browned (light in colour).
  2. Split the cashewnuts, together with sliced coconut deep fry the cashew and coconut in hot oil.
  3. To the dal in a handi add approx ½ cup water and cook until tender add in milk, sugar, cardamom stir and simmer for 5-7 mins.
  4. Now add in the fried sliced coconut and cashewnuts. Remove and serve warm
