Kesari Halwa A delicious sooji halwa, flavoured with kesar and enriched with nuts, an ideal choice for your sweet tooth
INGREDIENTS

Sooji 1 cup Ghee ¾ cup
Water 2 cups
Saffron 2 - 3 gms
Cashew nuts 8-10 Nos.
Raisins 8-10 Nos.
Condensed milk ½ tin
Sugar to taste
Kesari powder 1 teaspoon.

METHOD

  1. Heat the ghee in a thick bottomed kadai.
  2. Add the sooji to the ghee and on a medium heat fry until light brown.
  3. Add the kesari powder readily available dissolved in 2 cups of water and continue stirring
  4. Reduce the flame and cook until all water has been absorbed. Now add the condensed milk or sugar alternatively to taste.
  5. Stir well until ghee appears on the surface.
  6. Spread this mixture out on a greased / oiled thali, top with nuts & saffron. Cut out into attractive shapes and serve warm or chilled.
