Kaha Bath Sri Lankan Yellow Rice Preparation flavoured with Indian Spices
INGREDIENTS

Basmati Rice : 1 cup
Ghee / Oil : 1 table spoon
Onions : 1 large finely sliced
Cloves : 3 - 4 Nos.
Cardamoms : 3 - 4 Nos.
Turmeric powder : ½ tea spoon
Curry Leaves : 5 - 6 Nos.
Coconut Milk : 1 ½ cup.
Salt to taste
Lemon Grass : 1 stalk dried (optional)

METHOD

  1. Wash the rice and drain thoroughly.
  2. Heat ghee in a kadai, add sliced onions and fry until golden brown, add all whole garam masalas, add rice and fry for a few minutes.
  3. Add salt, turmeric.
  4. Add in coconut milk bring to a boil and then reduce heat.
  5. Cover and cook for 20-25 minutes without lifting the lid.
  6. When rice is done, the spices will appear on the surface, remove them and serve this rice with any chicken, meat or vegetable curry. Serve hot.
