Rasam :
RASAM Rasam

INGREDIENTS:
Split Masoor dal - 1/2 cup
Lime - 1 no
Tomato - 1 no
Curry leaves - 8-10 nos
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp chopped

For Tadka :
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Jeera - 1/2 tsp
Red chillies - 3-4 nos (slit)
Hing - a pinch
Oil - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Green chillies - 2-3 nos (slit)

METHOD

  1. Pick, wash and soak the dal in water for 1/2 hour, boil it till tender; and drain all the water.
  2. Chop the tomatoes and slit the chillies, add them to the drained liquid.
  3. To temper the Rasam, heat oil in a pan, add hing, curry leaves, mustard, jeera seeds, red chillies and splutter well.
  4. Add this to the prepared Rasam.
  5. Add salt to taste and boil for 5-6 mins.
  6. Remove from heat add lime juice and serve hot!
