The SINDHISHAAN publication has now successfully brought out three issues. The forthcoming issue of our widely appreciated quarterly publication is scheduled for a release in the month of April. Over our past three issues, you would have realized the team of Sindhishaan has been laying emphasis on articles that have a cultural perspective. Continuing with the same precedent, my team and me were very keen on writing about SINDHIAT, a term so widely used over the past many years, but somehow to a large extent the community has not been able to decipher its true meaning.

Invariably at all Sindhi events, seminars and festive occasions, where there is a large Sindhi gathering, one gets to see members on the dais mention about the essence of Sindhiat to the community for preserving and promoting the Sindhi culture. But there still exists a huge disparity in comprehending the true essence of the term Sindhiat by the members of the community.

Your opinion and viewpoint on this subject is of extreme importance and hence we request you to help us in helping the community understand the true connotation of the term Sindhiat better and how members across the globe and within the country can adopt Sindhiat in their daily life.

We have herein a brief questionnaire on Sindhiat and your responses to the same would help the community understand the term Sindhiat better. We hope to receive your invaluable responses at the earliest.

• What exactly is the true connotation of the term SINDHIAT? Does Sindhiat mean having a Sindhi influence in one's regular way of living? Would it be appropriate to state that Sindhiat includes and encompasses primarily,
  Speech - Conversing in the Sindhi language.
  Dress - Sporting outfits that have a stark Sindhi semblance
  Food - Eating habits that have a Sindhi influence.
  Festivals -Participating in celebrations of all Sindhi festivals.
  Art - Knowledge of Art that evolved in Sindh and visions of it around ones daily life.
  Music & Dance -Practising and spreading of Sindhi folk music and Sindhi folk dances.
  Rituals & Customs- Following the traditional Sindhi rituals and customs
  Behavioural pattern - Behavioural tendencies that have been associated with Sindhis.
  Spiritual leanings.
  Lifestyle - Leading a lifestyle that essentially signifies being a Sindhi.
  We would highly appreciate if you could elaborate on the above-mentioned points or include other elements/behaviours/practises that would enable a comprehensive definition of the term Sindhiat.

• Comment on how would you define the term Sindhiat to the younger generation Sindhis living in India and abroad, with the objective of them following and practising it for the promotion of the Sindhi Identity
  
  
• Considering that the community today has settled in various parts of the globe and also adopted a few of the local customs of the region, how according to you could such members practise Sindhiat?
  
  
• Could you throw some light into the lifestyle of the average Sindhi who resided in Sindh during the pre-partition days?
  
  
• Was there a large difference in the living styles of Sindhis who belong to different regions of Sindh? If so, how?
